Welcome 2023

It’s a brand new year! Although it technically started yesterday, for many (like me), the new year begins today. For many others, it begins tomorrow when they return to work for the first time this year. I know a lot of people who downplay the emergence of the New Year-New You philosophy, and I get that, but still, I wonder why? And isn’t their annual resistance of the movement the same as those who perpetually adopt it?

I’ve played both sides of this. I have embraced the NEWness of the year and I have also touted the belief that I didn’t need a “new” year to make changes. Resolutions? Pffft. And yet, optimistically, I always want to create stronger habits, streamline energies, focus attentions, and be a better person. So why not resolutions?

After THREE YEARS of weariness, I’m shedding the cloak of pandemic ennui.
Right now.
Yes, it happens to align with the changing of the calendar page, but so what. If it gets me motivated how is that a bad thing?

And to help hold myself accountable, I’m sharing my new year’s goal(s):
I. Set goals. Hilarious, right? I’m not traditionally a goal-setter. I tend to get an idea and run with it. Lately, (does going back thirty-four months still count as ‘lately’?) I’ve had few ideas and done zero running. Maybe prioritizing goals will help me set objectives and be more efficient in accomplishing them.
a.) Writing – schedule time, respect that schedule
b.) Home – attend to the ever-growing to-do list
c.) Social – balance writing, home, and social

Seems easy enough.
Sure, my goal list is very broad, but that’s okay. Details will come. At this point, doing anything is an improvement over the nothing I’ve come to exploit.

What are your aspirations for the next month or twelve?
It’s just an innocent inquiry, no insinuation or accusation intended. 😀

Whatever it is, you’ve got my support.
We’ve got this.

To borrow from a senior class slogan:
Resolutions and Goals, f*** Ennui,
This is our year, Two-oh-two-three!

(I crack myself up.)
