Word of Arting

I’m trying to pace myself– to keep Word of Art on your radar without beating you over the head with it.

It’s just…
I’M SO EXCITED!

I have collected all of the canvases and will begin photographing them for the book soon.

(these are just teasers!)

For those of you unfamiliar, Word of Art is a collaboration of Authors and Artists sponsored by In Print Professional Writers’ Organization in Cooperation with the Center for the Arts and Spirituality and Art@Emmanuel. Authors submitted short stories, poems or essays, 200 words or less. Then artists selected a written work to do an inspired canvas. Any medium was allowed– and we have a variety! but artists had to use the 16×20 canvas provided.

We are creating a full color, hard cover book that will include 30 of the author/artist partnerships. This project was inspired by Drawn with Words, through Art in Your Eye, a Batavia, IL Mainstreet event. We’re using their printer, Publishers’ Graphics. The publisher has been very accommodating in helping me with all of my questions!

Word of Art books can be pre-ordered now with cash or check. They are $15 for In Print members and $20 for nonmembers. (Six nonmember books = six books and a membership!)* Orders may be arranged through WordofArt@inprintwriters.com or at the In Print meeting.

We are hoping to have paypal on the In Print website and the square for credit card orders at the In Print August meeting, Saturday, August 9 and at the Reception. In Print meets at the Mendelssohn Performing Arts Center, 406 N Main St, Rockford, IL 61103

Books will be available for pick up and purchase at the
Word of Art Author/Artist Reception, Friday September 5, 2014,
from 4-8 pm, at ELC, 920 Third Ave., Rockford, IL

I am proud to be working with such talented artists, those of word and of canvas.

WoA_A_AflyerThis will be an incredible event.

*Please consider all In Print has to offer when making your purchasing decision. Yes, this is a blatant membership plug. As an In Print member you are also part of our affiliated group, the Chicago Writers’ Association, with access to all they have to offer.
Even if you are unable to come to the monthly meetings featuring guest speakers and professionals in the literary industry, In Print offers much more. (Like discounts!) There are field trips, contests, work shops, critique groups, publication opportunities, and lots of support, instruction and connections.
There’s a BOOK FAIR October 25th!
And, of course, Word of Art.

The authors did their part.
The artist’s job is over.
Now it’s my turn…
I have a lot of work to do.

But, it’s okay~

About Mary Fran Says

I am an artist, crafter, designer and writer. I enjoy working with mixed media-- applying visual and tactile manipulations to telling a story. Not a lot of market for that, though, :), so I'm focusing on short story submissions and novel completions. Yes, plural. Lots of beginnings, too many ideas, not enough focus.
