An Epidemic!

Have you noticed? How could you not?
THEY’RE EVERYWHERE!

Of course I’m talking about babies–  and right now especially, their prequel—pregnant women. It’s a rampant contagion! Baby bumps are busting out all over.

Seriously, look around– Friends, neighbors, co-workers, celebrities…

Personally, I’m immune, surgically inoculated.
But for those of you susceptible, consider yourself warned!

Threat of the temporary condition followed by permanent after effects hasn’t stopped Emily Blunt and Gwen Stefani from drinking the water!
Olivia Wilde is pregnant, Megan Fox is pregnant, Kelly Clarkson, a whopping one month newlywed, is pregnant!
Also expecting are… Punky Brewster (Soleil Moon Frye), Kerry Washington, Ginnifer Goodwin, Nicole…

Wait! What?

Yep, that’s right, my baby is going to have a baby.

Now, if you’re wondering how I made it this far in the blog before bursting with the news, well let me tell you, I have known since October! Yes, October! Crazy! Torturous!

I was sworn to digital silence.
Put on Facebook moratorium.
And like a good Gramma, I complied.

You know what’s even worse? She’s not due until June! June!
Do you know how far away June is?!
Eons!
In baby-waiting days it’s approximately six thousand four hundred and ninety-seven days!

bbminion_0001

June 25th to be exact.
I told her I’d print up a button with her due date to wear for people who will inevitably ask (again) every time they see her. I don’t blame them, people forget, it just happens—especially when half the female population seems to be infected with this minion endemic.

June 25, 2014.

That gives me six months to tackle blog titles like:
The Gramma Shower
To Grandmother’s House we go
A Trip down Gram Mary lane…
A Grandma by any other Name
And Grampa Makes 3

And many, trust me, many more!

Now that the bb minion is publicly expected, be sure and send well wishes to my daughter.

And her mom.
That’s gram-ME!

excited

(Just for the record, Christina got the “due” shot and Zach isn’t ready to buy a car with a backseat quite yet. Two weddings this summer does not translate to two grandbabies next summer!)

About Mary Fran Says

I am an artist, crafter, designer and writer. I enjoy working with mixed media-- applying visual and tactile manipulations to telling a story. Not a lot of market for that, though, :), so I'm focusing on short story submissions and novel completions. Yes, plural. Lots of beginnings, too many ideas, not enough focus.

Baa Humbug! I’ll never be a grandma. I think I’ll go chew on some coal. I’m happy for you, though. Come to think of it, being a grandpa ain’t too shabby either, especially when four of the five have graduated from college and the last one is entering, and they all like to play games with this old guy.
Blessings to all who did and will take part in the pre-birth activities. Good luck! I know you will make a strong commitment to the future of this new life.

That’s wonderful, Mary! My niece is having a baby in mid-February. She lives in England and I get to see her tomorrow, for the first time since she announced her pregnancy! I believe your right about this being an epidemic! Congratulations, Grandma! :0)
