November holds more than just Thanksgiving for me and my family– both of my kids, er, adults, have birthdays during the month, Zach on the 18th (111888, how cool is that?) and Nicole on the 30th.
Traditionally, I always waited until after her birthday to put up Christmas decorations. She hasn’t lived with us for many years and I no longer feel the need to wait, but somehow, it IS tradition and I do.
Despite the early cold that put many in the holiday spirit mid-November, December 1st, makes it official for me.
Have I mentioned that I participated in National Novel Writing Month, NaNoWriMo, and actually hit the 50k word mark?!
No subtlety, I admit, but hey, that’s a pretty big accomplishment– and a giant time-suck. Just like birthday month, NaNo ended the 30th and now my time is CHRISTMAS TIME!
I am a Christmas cookie baker, a Christmas carol belter (why just sing when you can vocalize stridently?), and a Christmas movie fanatic, did you see that the Hallmark Channel has TWELVE new holiday movies?! (talk about time-suck!)
I’m also a Christmas shopper, of course, but not today. I’m not a fan of online shopping, I much prefer the prize in hand purchased from a person with cash.
Christmas time is new and improved this year for us– we have a BB to help celebrate!
And yes, it’s true, I’m partial to Christmas because of the whole “merry” thing.
Counts! 😉
Enjoy it while you can, like all time, Christmas time goes too fast.
At Christmas play and make good cheer,
for Christmas comes but once a year.
