The Condiment Blog

In honor of Memorial Day picnics, this week’s blog is a quick little catch-up. Get it? Ketchup!
But not catsup.

The After Party
Please, no RSVPs. They’re not necessary. I’ve already planned on your attendance.

Mary Me
I love that our local paper lists the baby names in the birth notices, even though they’re usually Aiden, Brayden, Caden, Jaydon, and Emma. Recently I came across a Mary! Perhaps it was a typo? Mayden? But NO! The grandmother’s name was… Mary White.

The Turn of a Word
I contend that most of this blog could be considered examples of our definition of “quixotic.”

It’s Elementary, My Dear
I just got the news that a very good friend will be teaching at Summerdale next fall. I may have to stop by for a visit, and check out the Kindergarten classroom.

A friend who reads my blogs also happens to be a friend to Mrs. Skerkoske, my beloved fifth and sixth grade teacher from Garrison! I’m hoping to touch base with her this summer and catch up.

TGIW
I want to say Thank You for all of the support you provided to me and my kids on what was memorably NOT A WEDNESDAY.

Zach’s surgery seems to have done the job. He can breathe freely for the first time in a long time. He no longer leaves a trail of neatly folded tissue gifts in his wake. And he says things like, “I really need to start wearing socks now that I can smell.”

Nicole has completely recovered from her car accident. She’s healed, the ticket has been paid, the bills are slowly getting worked out, and she has a new (to her) car– an SUV of sorts that will come in handy when she moves into her new apartment this summer.

Yes, I think this song is about me.
Got a text from a friend who was at a Red Hot Chili Peppers concert. “Mary wants to fill it up live,” it said. “Thought of you.”

Momdays
Today is a Momday for the masses! A formal opportunity to celebrate how lucky we are, all that we have to be thankful for and to remember who we are thankful to– the soldiers and their families who continue to keep us safe at great personal risk.

No work, all play, and the pool is officially OPEN! Enjoy the picnic with your friends and family, the food, fun and sun, and take this time to do your own ketching up.
But not catsing up.

About Mary Fran Says

I am an artist, crafter, designer and writer. I enjoy working with mixed media-- applying visual and tactile manipulations to telling a story. Not a lot of market for that, though, :), so I'm focusing on short story submissions and novel completions. Yes, plural. Lots of beginnings, too many ideas, not enough focus.
